Episode Notes

Jessie Susannah Karnatz, aka the Money Witch, brings capitalism-critical, shame-free education to healers, hustlers, and creatives in order to catalyze change in their financial lives. In this episode we discuss:

  • The difference, for Jessie Susannah, between magic, healing, and spirituality

  • The power of wanting what you need and applying your willful energy to the “spiritual current”

  • Jessie Susannah’s journey to becoming the money witch, including her experience unionizing a strip club

  • Healing around money, specifically within the context of and privilege and responsibility

I just need to be in right relationship with myself, be loving and be loved and that feels like enough for me. I think lack of surrender often is lack of contentment and enoughness. I feel very satisfied at getting a shot being alive. That feels like enough

I try not to waste my willful energy fighting against the spiritual current because thats a huge waste of energy. let me want what i need. let me not fight for things that are not the right things for me.

Capitalism is a magic spell and it is incanted into us really fiercely. One of the beliefs that capitalism is based on is that some people are good at it, and that’s why they have more money... There is a lot of intentional obscuring to make it seem complicated, in order to make it seem like the people who understand it deserve to have more money. But that’s not really true.
— Jessie Susannah Karnat
I have to be the most me that I can be, but that’s really all I have to do. I don’t have to be heroic. The idea of heroism, having an impact in the world and being known for something, that can be really tied in with white narcissism... Instead what I have to do is show up and do my thing to the max and that will have an impact.
